In Memory of George C. Miller

by Amy Lemel on October 13, 2011

The day before the NY LMA 2011 Annual Summer Soiree I received the shocking phone call that George had died. I could not imagine going to a Legal Marketing Summer or Holiday Party without George – my colleague, friend, and a longtime LMA member. With a heavy heart, I attended the event and broke the sad news to George’s LMA circle of clients, friends, and colleagues.

George was an active LMA member over the years. As a matter of fact, I met him seven years ago (to interview) after a Harvard Club lunch seminar he had attended. It was because of George that I joined The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, where he had been Director of Business Development, and was introduced to the LMA. George was a truly sincere person, and a voice of reason that always appeared calm. George loved, in no particular order: his wife Dianna and family, the printing business he owned, his friends, the New Jersey Shore, and eating hamburgers.

Below are some memories of George from a couple of people who crossed his path:

“I have so many memories of George, especially when he worked with us in the office here (at MCC). He was so cute the way he used to bring his lunch in that his wife Dianna always made him. He loved movies and let us know which ones were good. But mostly, I will always remember George for being such nice and gentle guy. It was a pleasure working with him!” (Ruth)

“I had the pleasure of meeting George more than 13 years ago during my first job in a law firm, in San Diego. At that time, George was working for All-State Legal and was my firm’s Account Manager. What I will remember most about George is the extent to which he was willing to provide unconditional help to others. Imagine my surprise when I relocated to Philadelphia and found myself at a local LMA chapter meeting and came face-to-face with none other than George Miller, who was by then working for the Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. Although several years had passed since I last saw George, we just picked up right where we left off. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of George’s passing and feel blessed to have known him. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor and abundant knowledge of the legal industry. He was an all around great person who will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.” (Crystal Garcia)

George Crawford Miller passed away on August 6, 2011. He hailed from Bethesda and Annapolis, Maryland. A memorial service celebrating George’s life was held on August 13 at The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC.

He will be missed.
