Alison Arjoon was named Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Covington & Burling.  She had been head of Business Development for Paul, Weiss.

Joe Calve, CMO at Morrison & Foerster, published an article in the March/April 2014 edition of the LMA’s Strategies magazine titled “Flight of the Chief Marketing Coordinator.”  Joe discusses “how young marketers are hungry to make a difference and plenty of firms are feeding their ambition.”

Vincent J. Cordo, Jr. joined Reed Smith LLP as Global Director, Client Value.  He was previously the Global Director Value and Project Management for Squire Sanders LLP.

Mitzi Cruz was promoted to Director, Creative & Brand Management at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in October 2013.  In this capacity, she leads a team supporting the business objectives of the firm while strengthening its corporate identity.  She was previously Assistant Director, Web & Digital Brand Communications for the firm.

Breeanna W. Ebben moved to Reed Smith LLP as the U.S. Regional Marketing Senior Manager.  Breeanna previously was Marketing Director for Cole Schotz.

Andy Edelstein, a free-lance copywriter, won first place in the Your Honor Awards’ Best Advertising Campaign category for work on behalf of Boston law firm Sullivan & Worcester  in association with branding/design firm Right Hat.  Andy is a Co-Chair of the NYLMA Programming Committee.

Stacey Evans joined Blake, Cassels & Graydon as U.S. Marketing Manager.  She was previously a Senior Conference Director for the American Conference Institute.

Monica L. Gallagher became Director, Document Solutions for Integreon Document Services.  Monica was previously an account executive with ALM Legal Intelligence.

Marcey Grigsby, Practice Development Manager at Ropes & Gray LLP, reports that she was a speaker on the panel “Using Your Law Degree for Something Other than Practicing Law: Exploring Non-Legal Roles within Law Firms,” hosted by the NYC Bar Association, Committee on Career Advancement and Management, on March 20.

Deirdre Harrington is now a Senior Manager of Business Development for Goodwin Procter LLP.  She had been Senior Manager of Marketing and Business Development at Crowell Moring. 

Silvia Hodges Silverstein, VP, Strategic Market Development at Sky Analytics, published an article, “Buyers, Influencers and Gatekeepers”  in the Law Firm Management supplement of The New York Law Journal on May 12, 2014.

Birlie Lau became the Corporate Lead for Covington & Burling LLP, having previously been Corporate Marketing Manager for Hogan Lovells.

Stefanie M. Marrone joined Proskauer as Associate Director of Strategic Communications on April 7.  She had been Director of Marketing and Communications for MoFo just prior to this.  Stefanie has been very active with the NYLMA and currently serves as Chair of The Social Media SIG (Special Interest Group).

Rachel Merrick Maggs, Esq. was promoted to Business Development Specialist from Strategic Law Specialist by Thomson Reuters.

Kelsey Nason was promoted to Account Supervisor from Senior Account Executive at Hellerman Baretz Communications.

Leigh Ollman joined Akerman LLP in May as Client Development and Community Engagement Manager.  She was formerly Marketing and Client Services Senior Specialist for WilmerHale.  Leigh is  a member of our chapter’s Board of Directors. 

Ronald J. Pinto joined Proskauer in January 2014 as Associate Director where he oversees 11 practices in the firm’s corporate department.  Prior to this, he was a Vice President with Merrill Lynch, Pierce Fenner & Smith specializing in structured credit.

Carolyn Rumpf Sandano is now Director of Business Development at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP and is based in its New York office.  Most recently, Carolyn headed the Sandano Group, a legal marketing coaching firm, and associate produced a documentary for NPR, “The Long Game” on the subject of education in TexasCarolyn also wrote an article for the March 2014 issue of Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, “Legal Marketing Insights: The Intricacies Of Value.”

Melissa Seitter was promoted to Director of Business Development with Kobre & Kim LLP in from Business Development Manager in January.  She is a member of the Board of Directors for the New York Chapter of the LMA.

Sonja Steptoe joined the NY Chapter of the LMA in February 2014 upon becoming Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton’s Director of Marketing and Communications.  Most recently, she served in the Obama Administration as Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the US Department of Commerce and Associate Director of Communications for the US Census Bureau, 2012-2014.  Prior to this post, Sonja was the Director of Communications at O’Melveny & Myers. 

NYLMA Welcomes New Members

Geoffrey Baszczuk, Business Development Coordinator at Kaye Scholer, became a member of the Metro New York LMA chapter in January 2014.

Stacey Evans, U.S. Marketing Manager at Blake, Cassels & Graydon, joined the New York Chapter of the LMA in April 2014.

Birlie Lau, Corporate Lead for Covington & Burling LLP, joined the NYLMA in February 2014.

Rachel Merrick Maggs, Esq., Business Development Specialist for Thomson Reuters, joined the Metro NY LMA chapter in February 2014. Rachel, a former practicing attorney, has been working with clients of Thomson Reuters to help achieve business development and marketing goals.

Maggie Mojica became a member of the New York Chapter of LMA in February 2014.  She has been the Assistant Director of Sales for The Waldorf Astoria New York for the past five years.  She considers at the Waldorf as a “labor of love,” because of its rich history in New York and the hospitality industry.

Elizabeth Viviano-Fives joined the New York Chapter of LMA in January 2014.  She works for Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP.
